01:13 assessments . In the 2021 aspect tests , the assessment
01:21 structure remains the same , so it will still include
01:25 a C A T computer , adaptive tests with tech
01:29 enhanced items such as drag and drop graph , numeric
01:34 response equation editor and more and a P T performance
01:40 task to assess problem solving and critical thinking skills .
01:45 Students will see both C . A . T S
01:48 and P . T s in the math and ELA
01:50 assessments . All students in grades 3 to 8 and
01:54 11 are required to take the smarter , balanced superlative
01:58 the S back cat or computer based tests just difficulty
02:02 levels of questions throughout the assessment . Based on each
02:06 student's response . Performance tasks require students to utilize their
02:11 skills across multiple standards and topics . They include a
02:15 set of questions centered on a common concept to demonstrate
02:19 all around knowledge of the subject . The testing time
02:26 for each grade aspects . Formative assessments vary , the
02:30 shortest of which takes 2.5 hours and is for grades
02:33 3 to 5 . Math , the longest one is
02:36 for up to four hours and is for Grade 11
02:39 math . This duration includes time allotted for both cat
02:43 and PT segments . Each grade level exam for both
02:46 math and ELA combined takes 6 to 7.5 hours .
02:52 However , some states such as California are planning to
02:55 reduce the testing time with shorter versions of the assessment
02:59 . Further details on this are awaited . Stay tuned

03:22 with the items . There are also some commercially available
03:26 programs to help prepare students for the assessments with rigorous
03:30 practice and targeted remediation for their skill gaps . Use
03:35 these available mimicking items as bell ringers in classroom work
03:39 during regular classroom sessions to improve student performance . Driver
03:45 media was with supplemental study resources to students in all
03:49 your r t I groups to address their weaker areas
03:57 . The smarter balanced internal assessments are designed to prepare
04:01 students for the superlative and allow teachers to check student
04:05 progress throughout the year . Educators can use the results
04:09 to develop informed instructional plans to help students meet the
04:13 career ready standards . The s back . Interim assessments
04:17 are made available as the interim comprehensive assessments or I
04:23 see a s . These are similar to some motive
04:26 and , if needed , can also act as substitute
04:29 indicators of students . His performance in the absence of
04:32 end of year tests , the interim assessment blocks or
04:37 I A B s . These are claim level tests
04:40 that help teachers assess students in the classroom periodically per
04:44 their plan curriculum . These evaluate at least 4 to
04:48 8 targets and provide domain level overviews . The focused
04:54 interim Assessment blocks or F I A B s .
04:57 These assess three or fewer targets focused on instruction in
05:01 about a week . Typically , students have up to
05:05 five opportunities to take the I C . A s
05:08 and each I A B and each f i A
05:11 B throughout the school year . All these interim assessments
05:15 are untimed tests . The I , C A s
05:18 I , A Bs and F i A B s
05:20 are fixed form tests , which means that all students
05:24 in the class attempt the same items . A student
05:27 who takes an interim assessment more than once we'll see
05:30 the same items each time . The testing window for
05:37 these smarter balanced some motives vary across all the administering
05:42 states . This year's window will start as early as
05:45 February 2021 in some states and end as late as
05:49 May 2021 . In a few this year , Smarter
05:56 Balanced has launched its smart tool for teachers , which
06:00 is a platform to discover standards , aligned lessons and
06:03 strategies designed by educators . Smart tools for teachers includes
06:09 differentiated lessons and activities that are available across grades and
06:13 content areas . Let's now have a look at some
06:20 of the available guidance to complete this year's standardized testing
06:25 . It is recommended that all students and staff always
06:28 wear a mask during testing , L . E .
06:31 A s should work with their local stakeholders to ensure
06:34 public health and safety norms are followed . Different configurations
06:38 and settings are being explored to conduct testing during the
06:41 pandemic period . Few of these include group testing .
06:47 In this setting , test stations are each 6 ft
06:50 apart and staggered . The teacher station is at the
06:53 front of the room , at least 6 ft from
06:55 the nearest student . Hand sanitizers are also to be
06:59 available at the entrance of the room , one on
07:03 one testing . This setting is laid out on two
07:06 tables separated by a transparent divider on one side of
07:10 the divider . The test examiner device with the test
07:13 administrator interfaces with an attached monitor on the other side
07:18 of the divider . The student has a monitor that
07:20 duplicates the same content . Remote paper . Pencil administration
07:28 is the least secure imposes more challenges for students and
07:32 the testing coordinators . This testing method is only advisable
07:36 only when both in person and remote computer based testing
07:40 is not feasible . In California , especially , it
07:44 is only being considered for the E . L .
07:46 P A C assessments this academic year . Answer books
07:51 and other materials should be shipped and tracked through UPS
07:55 or FedEx . Parents can also pick them up from
07:58 school . It is imperative to inform parents and guardians
08:02 that these are not to be open until the time
08:05 of testing . Students should contact the testing coordinator through
08:09 phone or , ideally , a video communication app during
08:13 the assessment for speaking and listening components . The test
08:18 examiner will score the student during the assessment through the
08:22 call as a recording is not a possibility . If
08:30 schools choose the computer based assessment option students is online
08:34 . Monitoring is necessary for remote test administration parents or
08:39 guardians . Consent is imperative to allow students to participate
08:43 in this option . In this option , assessment ,
08:46 delivery and access for students testing interfaces are through Web
08:50 browsers , depending on the students . As a grade
08:53 level , the S spec tests can be conducted on
08:56 a local device or shared with the student using Web
08:59 meeting applications by the test examiner . We hope this
09:04 was helpful . It is now time for our Q
09:06 and A sections . Feel free to share your questions
09:09 in the comments . Thank you so much for joining
