“Listen up now,” Ray called to his cousins. “We’re gonna get that wasp nest there in the middle first. Then, we'll get the one to the right. They are both red wasps. We’ll save that big nest in the corner for last. It’s got black wasps.”

“Ready!” yelled Ray as the boys picked up their weapons. “Aim!” Alfred drew back his arm, focusing on the nest in the middle. “Fire!” Dozens of stones, sticks, rotten apples, and other items soared through the air, many of them striking the middle wasp nest. The nest was shaken, but stayed on the roof. Dozens of wasps flew out in all directions.

Alfred turned and ran as quick as he could. “Drop! Drop!” he could hear Velma yelling. He fell to the ground as several red wasps flew over him. Around him, he could hear other cousins doing the same. The wasp nest was loose, but it was still hanging. Ray grabbed a big, long stick and quickly strode over to the porch. He swung it forcefully, batting the nest off the porch roof. The nest flew through the air, and landed near Alfred. With a yelp, he scrambled to his feet and tore off towards a group of pine trees. Others nearby were also shrieking and fighting to get away.
