An eighth grade teacher, Susan Stromb, starts the year off by laying down some classroom rules relating to discussions, comments, and participation.

The following is a brief list of those rules. Read them and then answer the question below.

1. Come to class with an open mind, wanting to learn more.

2. Ask questions relevant to the assignment or prior assignments.

3. Read and think critically and thoughtfully.

5. Affirm others with “ That’s interesting, that was insightful, I didn’t think of it that way…”

6. Ask questions using phrases such as, “ I am not sure that I understand, could you repeat that? I see what you are saying, can you give me examples so I can better understand? Can you explain that? I have a question about….”
