Read the two passages and answer the question.

Picture Day

It is picture day at school and Sara is so excited. She is going to wear her new pink lace dress and shiny new black Mary Jane shoes. Sara’s mom took extra time curling her hair this morning and even tied in a beautiful satin ribbon. Sara bound into the school feeling so pretty. She could hardly wait for her turn to get her picture taken.

Picture Day

Oh no! It’s picture day at school. Melissa hates picture day, especially since her father lost his job. There is no money to buy a new dress, so she has to wear her sister’s hand-me-downs. Melissa’s mother tries to make her feel better by fixing her hair but nothing helps to change Melissa’s mood. Melissa stomped into the school feeling ugly. Melissa was ready for this day to be over.

What is the one similarity between these two passages?
