Laura Ingalls Wilder accomplished many things in her life, but she is most known for authoring the Little House on the Prairie series of books. These stories chronicled her childhood as she grew up in a pioneer family during the 1800s. Encouraged by her daughter, Rose, Mrs. Wilder released her first book, Little House in the Big Woods. Following that first book, she released seven others. Eventually, those books were used as the basis for a television series entitled Little House on the Prairie that offered viewers a glimpse into the pioneer life.
